Installation of our signs is very easy. Whether you have selected an aluminum, vinyl or Aluma Lite, you should be able to install your sign within a few minutes. Each type of sign will have different installation requirements. Here are some quick installation tips to assist you.

Aluminum Sign Installation

Our aluminum signs can be installed using a simple post or pole, or by attaching it to a wall. If you plan to install a sign using a pole, you will need to have a fence post digger, as well as brackets to attach the sign to the pole. A post should be approximately 7-8 feet long before it is buried. For optimal safety and security, two feet of this post should be buried under ground. You can then attach the sign using your brackets.

If you plan to install your sign on a wall, you will need to have a drill, as well as screws and washers. You may need a masonry or wood drill bit, depending on the installation surface. The washers should be placed behind the sign, against the wall.

You can also use a sign stand if you plan to temporarily display your sign. This works well for indoor installation as well. These stands can range in material from plastic to metal. A sign stand can be purchased at a local home improvement store or a hardware store.

Aluma Lite Sign Installation

Our aluma lite signs are large and may require extra installation help if you are not comfortable with installing it yourself. These signs are typically located on the roof or a wall of your building and can be attached using brackets or heavy duty screws. You can contact a local contractor for installation help.

Vinyl Sign Installation

Our vinyl signs can be installed using screws and washers, or by attaching a cord through the grommets of your sign. For permanent installation, you will need to use a drill, again, with either a masonry or wood drill bit as well as screws and washers. The washers should be placed between the grommets and the wall. The screws can then be inserted through the grommets to secure your sign.

If you plan to use rope or a cord to hang your sign, you will need to thread the cord through the grommets. You should leave enough length on either end of your sign to secure it to either hooks or brackets on the wall. It is important to have an equal length of cord on either side of the sign to ensure that your sign will hang evenly. If necessary, a support can be placed at the center of your sign to ensure that it does not sag.

One of the most popular projects when it comes to achieving a good boost in New York home curb appeal is vinyl siding installation.  But just like in any home improvements, knowing everything there is to know is important to avoid the pitfalls and achieve project success.  This makes it important to know the essentials before tackling the project.  And this serves true whether you are in Long Island, Brooklyn, Staten Island, Queens or Manhattan.

Why Vinyl?

When it comes to siding materials, vinyl can be said to be relatively new in the industry.  But even so, it is becoming more and more popular to homeowners because of the many benefits that it has to offer including:

1.  Savings

Not only does vinyl siding costs less per square feet but it also saves homeowners from the expense and hassles of exterior repainting every few years.

2.  Maintenance is a Breeze

Compared with its counterparts such as stucco, wood, aluminum, steel and brick; vinyl offers the lowest maintenance needing only a yearly washing to keep fresh its appearance.  The durable plastic that it is made of will not flake, rust, dent, conduct electricity or rot.

3.  Plethora of Choices

Vinyl siding offers the most flexibility when it comes to look and designs.  Products come in a great array of colors, trim options such as shakes and shingles, and can even mimic intricate architectural details.  Technological advancements have made it realistically copy textures of other more expensive choices such as stucco and wood grain.

Choosing Vinyl Siding for Your Home

When shopping for a product to install into your home, quality should always matter.  Vinyl siding products that have passed minimum standards will have designations of ASTM Standard 3679 by the American Society of Testing and Materials on the packaging and fact sheets.   Other things to look for include:

.   Thickness – as thicker is more durable and the extra thickness helps avoid the sagging of panels;

.   Anti-weathering protection – though vinyl siding already has other additives, sunlight can cause fading and weathering to raw vinyl; and

.   Warranty – this gives a good clue on how long the product can last ad how durable it is.  However, be careful as some manufacturers offer prorated warranties.  Make sure to read the fine print.

Vinyl Siding Installation

By almost a hundred percent, arising issues with using vinyl siding can be traced to improper installation.  This makes the quality of project result depend a great deal on the skill, experience and expertise of the installer.

Vinyl siding installation is more than meets the eye.  Though the task may seem relatively easy, it actually is not.  Proper equipment, precise cutting, and a good deal of layout skill are vital in making the vinyl siding efficiently fit around every corner and details of your exterior.  So if you are thinking of going DIY, carefully weigh if the risk that you are putting the project and your home into is worth the dollars you will pinch.  Hiring a qualified contractor is your best bet if you do not have what it takes to make a success out of the vinyl siding installation project.

The old house just does not look the same. It was gorgeous in its prime. Once upon a time the paint was fresh. The trim was perfectly matched. Everything looked new. Now the paint is chipping. Some of the trim has fallen off. It is time to think about vinyl siding installation.

Easy Job

Vinyl siding installation is actually a very easy project to do. Going over the existing exterior, there are no worries about dumpsters full of old building materials to haul away. Although it is not a weekend project, vinyl siding can be installed in a few days. You just need to to be aware of a few tips to make the job smoother.

Weather Proof

Vinyl siding has been developed to expand and contract with the weather elements. Being made of PVC, it is going to do this more than any other building material you use. The first tip in positioning each piece on your home is where to place the nail. There are slots on the top edges of each 12 foot panel of siding. You will want to position your nail in the middle of the slot to allow the siding to move back and forth. Trying to put the nail in at the end will only cause the siding to crack when it needs to move in either direction.

Take Care with Vinyl Siding Installation

You must also remember during the installation process to never, ever pound the nail in tight. The nail should only be driven in until there is at least a 1/16th inch gap from the head of the nail to the wall. The siding must be able to be move. If there is much more of a gap, your siding might be too loose and could blow off.

Vinyl siding can crack easily. It may not seem like this is the case, but once you begin your project, you will see how flexible the material can be. The problem arises when this material gets cold or brittle after years of service – that’s when the vinyl siding is more likely to crack. And once cracked, it can create many additional problems. So you must be careful when placing your nails.

There are times when you will find a piece which needs to be nailed but no nail hole is provided where it needs to be. This is where you will have to create your own nail hole with a nail punch. A smooth, clean-cut hole in the siding will prevent the vinyl siding from becoming damaged. By just pounding in a nail any place randomly can create cracks and stress points you cannot see until winter.

Two other important tips for your vinyl siding installation project include remembering that when the siding has been locked into place, you should not pull it tight when nailing it in. Just let it hang. Also, you must remember to leave some room when positioning the siding panels into the J-channel. This allows the siding to move comfortably when expanding or contracting.

By following these simple tips while doing your vinyl siding installation project, you should experience minimal problems. The siding you install should last for years to come. This is one project which can truly add to the beauty and value of your home.
